Ban on snack stands
City of Chemnitz issues corresponding general decree
In view of the rising number of infections, the City of Chemnitz has banned the sale of food and drinks from food stalls throughout the city.
The general decree issued for this purpose to enforce the Infection Protection Act (IfSG) on the occasion of the Corona pandemic comes into force on Sunday, 20 December (the day after its public announcement) and is valid until 10 January 2021.
The regulations in force to date - particularly those relating to the sale and consumption of food and drinks from food stalls - have proven to be inadequate.
Although the Corona Protection Ordinance permits the collection of takeaway food and drinks as an exception, this is only for consumption at home or at work.
In practice, however, it has been shown that the consumption of sausages, for example, usually took place in the vicinity of the respective snack stands and without compliance with the hygiene rules. Despite numerous checks and appeals, it has not yet been possible to effectively prevent this. It is therefore now necessary for the affected snack stands to temporarily cease operations.
