Ban on firecrackers on New Year's Eve in Chemnitz
City prohibits burning and carrying in the entire city area
The city of Chemnitz prohibits the carrying and setting off of fireworks in the entire public city area on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. A corresponding general decree with reference to the Infection Protection Act and the coronavirus pandemic was published today. Accordingly, only so-called table fireworks may be used. With this ban, the city wants to help prevent unnecessary gatherings of people during the pandemic. In addition, the situation in the already busy hospitals should not be further strained.
The carrying and setting off of fireworks is prohibited for the period from midnight on 31 December 2020 to midnight on 1 January 2021. January 2021, midnight, on all public streets, squares and areas as well as in private areas that are accessible to everyone (e.g. supermarket car parks).
This does not apply to the carrying of category F1 fireworks intended for use in enclosed areas and inside residential buildings (table fireworks, etc.).
This general ruling comes into force on 31 December 2020 and applies up to and including 1 January 2021.
