Ball maples on Reichenbrander Straße are cut
Tree care measures in the south-west traffic green area
In the week beginning Monday, 19 February, maintenance work will begin on a total of 67 spherical maples on Reichenbrander Strasse.
The plan is to shorten the crowns of the trees from all sides so that the desired spherical shape is visible again. The pruning will be carried out mainly in the area of the fine branches and only partially in the weak branch area.
The aim is to restore the original character of the street. At the same time, the measure is intended to increase road safety, as some of the crowns have grown overhanging and are not statically optimised due to the current one-sided pruning.
The locations of the trees can be viewed interactively on the city of Chemnitz's themed city map.
The necessary measures were identified in the course of ongoing tree inspections. Without exception, all of the upcoming work is urgent and serves to maintain or establish road safety.
All tree maintenance measures within the meaning of the duty to maintain road safety are legally permissible and do not constitute an offence under Section 39 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG).
The wood of the pruned trees becomes the property of the company commissioned with the measure, Dieter Richter GmbH.
