Bahnhofstraße will be fully closed at Annaberger Straße
Track bends including points are exchanged in the junction area
From Monday, 11 November, at around 10 a.m., Bahnhofstraße will be fully closed in both directions at Annaberger Straße. The reason for this is essential maintenance work on the tracks and points in order to maintain supply reliability. The work is expected to last until 29 November inclusive.
Traffic on Bahnhofstraße in the direction of Falkeplatz will be diverted via Bahnhofstraße - Zschopauer Straße - Ritterstraße - Gustav-Freytag-Straße - Reichsstraße. Shortly before the junction with Annaberger Straße, a turning area will be set up so that vehicles from Johannisplatz, Bretgasse and the multi-storey car parks can turn around.
From Bahnhofstraße in the direction of the main railway station, it will only be possible to turn right in the direction of Annaberger Straße. Traffic in the direction of the main railway station is possible via Bahnhofstraße - Annaberger Straße in the direction of Gustav-Freytag-Straße.
Alternatively, it is recommended to take the diversions via Falkeplatz - Theaterstraße - Mühlenstraße - Müllerstraße - August-Bebel-Straße.
During peak traffic times, longer journey times and longer waiting times at the traffic lights are to be expected on the diversion routes mentioned. The traffic lights at Falkeplatz and at the Bahnhofstraße/Zschopauer Straße junction will be adapted to the changed traffic flows as far as possible.
The bus routes affected by the closure will be diverted in the direction of the main railway station via Annaberger Straße - Annenstraße - Reitbahnstraße.
The traffic routing of tram line 5 and Citybahn line C11 via Annenplatz will remain unchanged. Bus lines 21, 23, 31, 32, 51, 79 and the regional bus line 383 can continue to use the landward environmental lane from the central bus stop in the direction of Falkeplatz/Rosenhof, so there will be no restrictions in the landward direction.
Background:
Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) has been building on Bahnhofstraße in the area of the junction with Annaberger Straße since 21 October 2024. Due to wear and tear, it is necessary to replace the tracks and points that have been there since 1999. In the upcoming second construction phase, the track curves including the points in the area of the Annaberger Straße junction will be replaced.
