Mayor Ralph Burghart will address introductory words to the participants at the JOUR FIXE. Sylvia Lange-Rathaj, Head Specialist Advisor for the Child Day Care Centre Department of the City of Chemnitz, will explain the reasons for the award and the criteria for the jury's decision. Katrin Franz, Head of Cultural Management and Cultural Strategy at the City of Chemnitz, and Birgit Rehme-Iffert, Coordinator of the Cultural Education Contact Centre, will present the prizes virtually. The prizewinners will also be connected.

The "Kita & Künstler" project entered its 5th round. The Kulturraum Stadt Chemnitz once again invited regional artists and daycare centres to collaborate creatively. Artists and daycare centre teams were able to apply with an artistic educational project until the end of October. The project ideas submitted were assessed by a jury and supported with prizes, with the aim this time being to honour particularly innovative project ideas with an additional award.

The aim of the project was to give children access to artistic education and co-creation. The call for proposals was aimed at artists from the performing and visual arts who work together with children aged three to six to organise workshops, courses or project days.

The pilot project was developed in 2013 by the Cultural Education Network Centre in the Vogtland-Zwickau cultural region and has since been successfully implemented in several cultural regions in Saxony.

The project is funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism and the City of Chemnitz.
