Award ceremony: 12th Chemnitz Peace Prize
Invitation for Wednesday, 4 March, 5 p.m., City Council Chamber
On the occasion of the Chemnitz Peace Day 2015 on 5 March, the FUER Chemnitz citizens' association will be awarding the Chemnitz Peace Prize for the 12th time. The event will take place on Wednesday, 4 March at 5 pm in the City Council Chamber of Chemnitz City Hall and is open to the public.
The city of Chemnitz and the utility company eins Energie in Sachsen are supporting the award ceremony. Mayor Miko Runkel will speak at the award ceremony. Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the award ceremony.
Projects, institutions, organisations and individuals who stand up for tolerance, peaceful coexistence and against xenophobia were invited to apply for the Chemnitz Peace Prize. This year, eleven potential award winners were shortlisted from 25 proposals, from which the jury selected the three winners.
For the first time, the three awards are endowed with 500 euros, 300 euros and 200 euros respectively, higher than in previous years. In addition, the first place winner will receive a sculpture created by Chemnitz sculptor Erik Neukirchner.
A press release on the prize winners with a closing date of 4 March at 5.30 pm will follow on 4 March.
