Award ceremony: 11th Chemnitz Peace Prize

Invitation for Tuesday, 4 March, 5 p.m., City Council Chamber

On the occasion of the Chemnitz Peace Day 2014 on 5 March, the FUER CHEMNITZ citizens' association will award the Chemnitz Peace Prize for the 11th time. The event will take place on Tuesday, 4 March at 5 pm in the City Council Chamber of Chemnitz City Hall and is open to the public.

The city of Chemnitz and the utility company eins Energie in Sachsen are supporting the award ceremony.

Mayor Philipp Rochold will speak at the award ceremony. A cello quintet from the municipal music school will perform.

Projects, institutions, organisations and individuals who stand up for tolerance, peaceful coexistence and against xenophobia were invited to apply for the Chemnitz Peace Prize. This year, nine potential prize winners were shortlisted, from which the thirteen-member jury selected the winners.

The top three winners will receive awards worth 300 euros, 200 euros and 100 euros respectively. In addition, first place and the winner of the prize of honour will also receive a sculpture created by Chemnitz sculptor Erik Neukirchner.
