Award announced for commitment to careers guidance

Call for applications from the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Chemnitz working group – applications can be submitted until 25 September

The SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Chemnitz working group is awarding the Chemnitz Career Guidance Prize for the first time in recognition of outstanding commitment to career guidance. The aim is to honour projects, initiatives and individuals who are particularly dedicated to supporting young people’s career guidance.

Committed individuals and organisations are invited to apply or to nominate suitable candidates and projects. The aim is to highlight good examples, promote the exchange of best practice and sustainably strengthen career guidance as a key component of securing a skilled workforce.

The Chemnitz Career Guidance Award is intended to bring the importance of high-quality career guidance more firmly into the public eye. The award seeks innovative ideas, sustainable partnerships and exceptional initiatives that help pupils make the transition from school to vocational training, higher education or employment.

Applications are open to individuals who demonstrate a special commitment to career guidance, as well as to projects and initiatives that provide fresh impetus through innovative or exceptional approaches and are not yet established.
In addition, companies, institutions, schools, associations and other organisations may participate as a whole. As well as self-nominations, nominations from third parties are expressly welcome.
Members of the steering committee of the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Chemnitz working group are excluded from participation.

The deadline for applications is Friday, 25 September 2026. Applications can be submitted online via the following link: Participation Portal_Chemnitz Career Guidance Award

The award is organised and coordinated by the Regional Co-ordination Office for Career Guidance, which is affiliated with the City of Chemnitz’s Economic Affairs Department.
Submitted applications will be assessed and awarded prizes by the members of the steering committee of the working group.

Award ceremony on 28 October

On Wednesday 28 October, the awards ceremony will take place during the second annual conference of the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT Chemnitz working group. The venue is yet to be announced.

The winner will receive a trophy specially crafted for the BO Prize, produced by pupils at the student foundry of Sachsen Guss GmbH. In addition, the prize includes two tickets to a Niners Chemnitz basketball match and a media package, including media coverage by the student advertising agency ‘SPRNGBRTT’. The aim is to raise awareness not only of the award itself but also of the outstanding commitment it recognises amongst a wider public.
