Environmental Centre: Guide for Chemnitz consumers
For this year's Earth Day on Saturday, 22 April, the Environmental Centre is publishing a guide to waste avoidance. This serves as a guide to help you "do something for our environment every day", true to the motto of the day of action. The brochure contains general tips and lists local offers, projects and players that everyone can use to avoid waste.
The guide is divided into the topics "Countering food waste", "Reducing waste in everyday life", "Repairing, sharing and reusing" and "Municipal offers". The aim is to create an impact-orientated concept for waste prevention.
When a product is manufactured and the resulting waste is recycled, natural resources are used and the environment and climate are impacted. These effects can be reduced in everyday life by considering one's own consumption and avoiding waste from the outset. Useful questions to ask are, for example: Do I really need a particular product? Are there alternatives that produce less waste and pollutants during manufacture or after use? Is the product durable, reusable, repairable, reusable, recyclable? Is the product available second-hand, can it be rented or exchanged?
