AUFbrüche for the Capital of Culture 2025
Adult education centre invites on 16 August, from 5 p.m. to the Rosenhof open air evening
On Thursday, 16 August, from 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to another exciting open-air evening on Chemnitz city culture at the Rosenhof. The event is part of Chemnitz's bid to become Capital of Culture 2025.
"AUFbrüche" is the motto for Chemnitz's bid to become Capital of Culture 2025 and also for the next Rosenhof evening. The organisers want to trace the drastic changes and upheavals in the city.
Chemnitz continues to be characterised by multi-layered ruptures that make it the exciting city it is today and at the same time provide scope for new departures. What ruptures can be identified in Chemnitz, in its urban form, its architecture, its culture and its society? And what new beginnings are possible and necessary today?
How should Chemnitz deal with the existing ruptures and what future city and culture can be shaped from this? These and other questions will be explored together in a relaxed atmosphere, with musical contributions from the piano and a small culinary offering. The people of Chemnitz are invited to this relaxed evening to get involved in the bid to become the Capital of Culture 2025.
Dr Urs Luczak, Head of the Arts and Culture Department at the adult education centre, a qualified urban planner and sociologist, will lead the evening with illustrated contributions about Chemnitz and encourage discussion about urban culture. The focus will be on examples of breaks in Chemnitz's urban development. Selected urban spaces and squares will be presented.
There will be a joint discussion on whether they meet the current needs of the citizens and ideas for future development will be collected. In an open atmosphere, in the form of a workshop at tables with plans and pictures, suggestions can be made and ideas for Chemnitz spun.
The event is free of charge and open to all interested parties without registration.
