Athletics hall in the sports forum officially goes into operation

On Tuesday, 24 September at 5 pm, the athletics hall in the Sportforum will be handed over to the users of Boxclub Chemnitz 94 e. V. in the presence of Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky at a reception hosted by the boxing associations.
The athletics hall was extensively renovated following massive storm damage. The renovation work began in March 2024 following consultations between the city of Chemnitz and those responsible for the sport of boxing regarding the requirements of an athletics hall. The polycarbonate glazing and hall lighting were replaced. The hall floor was refurbished. A trainer and club office was set up. The old toilet facilities were demolished, allowing the changing rooms for men and women to be enlarged. The changing rooms were given new flooring, the ceiling construction and ceiling lighting were renewed and the walls were repainted. The heating system in the hall and the wall radiators in the building were renewed. All doors and the ceiling lighting in the foyer and corridors were also replaced. The entrance area was remodelled and given a new entrance door.
The cost of the building work totalled around 450,000 euros. The available budget was adhered to. The sports facility was completed on schedule on 27 July 2024 and has been used by the boxers ever since.
