"Ask the cultural ambassador" - second stop of the living room tour for the Capital of Culture 2025

The second stop of the "Living Room Tour" will take place next Saturday to involve citizens in the Capital of Culture bid. The living room tour kicked off on Saturday, 10 June, as part of the "Tietz family invites you in" family festival on the forecourt of the TIETZ cultural department stores'. Citizens were invited to talk to Stefan Tschök, cultural ambassador and press spokesman for CVAG, about the idea of Chemnitz applying to become European Capital of Culture 2025.
"Chemnitz 2025 - does that mean anything? What is this all about?" wondered a member of the public as she read the chalk lettering and curiously took a seat in the living room. In a cosy atmosphere, cultural ambassador Stefan Tschök explained the background and Chemnitz residents had the opportunity to share their wishes, suggestions and opinions. "Chemnitz has changed completely in the last ten years, which I find very refreshing. Young people have created a new culture that is more cosy. I think it's a very nice development that people come together on the meadow by the Schloßteich or Küchwald. I would like to see even more going on in the streets of Chemnitz, so I think it's a good idea," said another citizen, explaining her perception. "It's important that Chemnitz is viewed positively from the outside and that students in the city become more visible," said an interested citizen. "It would also be nice if the public squares were used more for culture and people danced together on the theatre square, for example" was an idea that came up in the discussions.

Citizen participation is an important part of the Capital of Culture bid. "We want to continue the dialogue with the people of Chemnitz, because their ideas and wishes are important impulses on the way to the Capital of Culture," says Ferenc Csák, head of the city's cultural operations and the application process, explaining the idea of the living room tour.
