Artwork "Intestine" moves on
Sculptural installation on Schillerplatz will be dismantled from 4 April
From Monday, 4 April to Wednesday, 6 April, the sculptural installation "Darm" will be dismantled on Schillerplatz. The work by artists Anetta Mona Chişa and Lucia Tkáčová will be dismantled into its individual parts and sealed by a company from Chemnitz before being collected by a Slovakian transport company in the early hours of Thursday, 7 April. The "intestine" will find a new location in the city of Bratislava.
The sculptural installation was part of the public art project Gegenwarten - Presences, which took place in Chemnitz in summer 2020. It featured works by 20 international artists and collectives who explored Chemnitz, its history and society in their site-specific works - interventions and sculptures, installations and performances.
There will be a continuation of Gegenwarten - Presences. This means that the public spaces will only temporarily become places of artistic exploration. This is because there should continue to be sufficient creative space in Chemnitz for the artists involved in subsequent public art projects. In this way, the locations of Gegenwarten - Presences can be artistically reinterpreted in the next edition of the project.
