Art competition for children on the theme "Peaceful Cities

Call from Mayors for Peace - City of Chemnitz plans exhibition for Peace Day

Mayors for Peace - an international network of cities committed to the abolition of nuclear weapons and lasting global peace - is organising a drawing competition for children. The city of Chemnitz, a member of the network since 2006, is calling on all young Chemnitz residents to take part on the occasion of today's Mayors for Peace flag day.

The theme of the art competition is "Peaceful Cities". The artwork that wins the Mayors for Peace President's Prize will be printed on plastic folders, which Mayors for Peace will use on various occasions to raise awareness of the importance of peace education. The city of Chemnitz is also planning to exhibit the submitted artworks on Chemnitz Peace Day 2023.

Entries can be submitted until 21 September, the International Day of Peace, to the following address: City of Chemnitz, Mayor's Department, Division 09.1 - European and International Relations, Protocol, Markt 1, 09111 Chemnitz.

The competition is aimed at young Chemnitz residents aged 6 to 15, who will be judged in two age categories.
