Around 5,000 fans at the first "Rock am Kopp"

Rapper MC Fitti opens the "Die Stadt bin ich" summer concert series

Sunglasses, loafers and "30 degrees" - these associations for the well-known rapper MC Fitti could hardly be more apt this Saturday than at the first "Rock am Kopp" concert. Around 5000 fans celebrated an exuberant party for over an hour in front of the Karl Marx Monument on Saturday evening. The first "Rock am Kopp" was a complete success.

"It was simply overwhelming today," said MC Fitti after the 60-minute concert. "We had maybe expected 1000 people. But I never thought there would be so many. That's why I was nervous for the first three songs," he confessed after a first glance over the completely packed Brückenstraße.

The premiere artist of the first Rock am Kopp in front of the city's landmark - the Karl Marx head - could not have been more fitting, with the rapper's beard creating a certain resemblance to the great philosopher.

MC Fitti's trademark: Full beard, sunglasses and baseball cap are all part of the game - for the rapper himself, but also for some of his fans. His catchy and creative songs, such as those about the WhatsApp messaging service, are well received by the audience - as organiser Jan Kummer from Chemnitz club Atomino also found: "All age groups are gathered here - young people, but also many families with their children. It's surprising that it's so well filled."

The first of the "Rock am Kopp" concerts was made possible by the main sponsor Getränke-Pfeiffer, with friendly support from Radio Chemnitz and electricity from Eins. Sparkasse Chemnitz is supporting the entire "Die Stadt bin ich" campaign. The next "Rock am Kopp" is scheduled to take place in June.

The "Rock am Kopp" concert series is part of the "I am the city" communication campaign. Once a month during the summer, a band or artist will perform on a small stage in front of a large backdrop and delight the Chemnitz audience with a concert. Further information on the campaign:
