Apprentices and students of the City of Chemnitz are welcomed

Invitation to the photo session: 1 September, 10 a.m., LUXOR Chemnitz

On Thursday, 1 September at 10 a.m., the new trainees and students of the City of Chemnitz will be officially welcomed at the LUXOR Chemnitz Congress and Event Centre.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.

A total of around 800 applications were received for the apprenticeships advertised by the City of Chemnitz. Of these, 63 trainees and students are starting their training or studies with the City of Chemnitz this year. In detail, these are

  • nine students in the higher general administrative service with the training objective "Bachelor of Laws"
  • four students in social pedagogy with the training objective "Bachelor of Arts"
  • 19 administrative assistants
  • seven office management clerks
  • one specialist for media and information services, specialising in libraries
  • one qualified pool attendant
  • two gardeners specialising in horticulture and landscaping
  • four emergency paramedics
  • 14 nursery school teachers
  • one animal keeper
  • one road builder

With the new trainees and students, more than 200 young professionals will be learning in the city administration from September 2022.

The range of professions that the City of Chemnitz trains can vary from year to year. This approach is used to cover the City of Chemnitz's own requirements for junior staff and to increase the chances of trainees being offered permanent positions.

Particularly in the administrative professions and in the nursery school sector, not only the demand but also the chances of being taken on are very high, as many employees will be leaving the city administration in the coming years due to age; specifically, more than 1,200 employees will be retiring by 2028.

Anyone interested in vocational training or studying for 2023 can find information at www.chemnitz.de/Ausbildung.
