Applications for the accessibility investment programme can now be submitted

As part of Saxony's accessibility investment programme, institutions from the cultural, leisure, education and health sectors can now apply for funding to invest in the removal of barriers. The programme, which has the motto "Favourite places for everyone", is primarily aimed at facilities that lack the necessary funds or where an investment would otherwise not be worthwhile. The aim is to make it easier for people with disabilities to access these facilities.

The investment programme was set up with a total funding amount of 2.5 million euros. Approximately 176,500 euros are available for Chemnitz. Funding is available for up to 100 per cent of the construction costs if the project costs a maximum of 25,000 euros. If the building owner agrees to the project, tradespeople and tenants or leaseholders can also apply for funding from this pot.

Applications will be accepted until 28 February 2014. Applications and further information can be obtained from the Urban Planning Office, Urban Regeneration Department, Coordination. The contact person is Romy Ulbricht, who can be reached by telephone on 488 6042 or by email:

The advice centre for barrier-free planning and building at the VdK Saxony Social Association is available to answer any construction-related questions on 334013.

All measures applied for will be examined with the support of the Disability Advisory Council and the Disability Officer as required by the programme, prioritised and, with an oversubscription of the above-mentioned sum, become part of the municipal application to the Sächsische Aufbaubank.
