Application for maintenance advance from 2 January 2017
The customer portal of the Citizens' and Administration Centre (Moritzhof) is expanding its services for applying for benefits from January 2017.
In future, applications for advance maintenance payments can also be submitted here. The bundling of applications for benefits in the customer portal saves travelling and waiting times, as it offers advice, help and support when applying for a benefit as well as direct referral to another benefit area, such as housing benefit, parental allowance, federal training assistance, without any longer waiting times.
From January, the application for advance maintenance payments will also be available online at www.chemnitz.de, Forms & Online Services (City of Chemnitz service portal, Forms from A to Z) > "Apply for advance maintenance payments".
It is not necessary to submit a separate application due to the increase in the minimum maintenance entitlement and child benefit for underage children from 1 January 2017. The adjustment will be made automatically and the beneficiaries will be notified when the increased maintenance advance is determined.
Changes to the maintenance advance are planned for 2017: The age limit of twelve years is to be abolished. In future, the maintenance advance is to be paid until the child reaches the age of 18. In addition, the maximum period of 72 months is to be abolished. The law is expected to be passed by the Bundesrat in the first quarter of 2017.
