Application deadline for Stefan Heym Sponsorship Awards extended

Submissions possible until 15 March 2021

The application deadline for the International Stefan Heym Prizes, which were awarded in July 2020, has been extended to 15 March 2021. The coronavirus pandemic has presented pupils, students, researchers, publicists and especially the creative industries with unforeseen challenges this year. Regular project work was not possible as usual for many in 2020. The City of Chemnitz is responding to this situation by extending the application phase. Interested parties now have more time to concretise their ideas and projects under the more difficult pandemic conditions and submit an application. The Board of Trustees for the International Stefan Heym Prize of the City of Chemnitz will decide on the awarding of the sponsorship prizes at the end of March 2021.

The sponsorship prizes totalling 20,000 euros will be awarded in the form of pro rata prize money in addition to the International Stefan Heym Prize. In particular, projects and initiatives in the fields of science, art, culture and research or estate management, but also journalistic and documentary work, scholarships or projects by and with pupils or students will be honoured.

Individuals, initiatives, institutions, private and public organisations and associations can apply. The projects should be realised within the three years or so until the next Stefan Heym Prize is awarded. A description of the project (max. two pages in A4 format), a cost and financing plan, a public relations plan for the project and a timetable must be submitted with the application.
