Announcement of the 12th Chemnitz Peace Prize 2015
Invitation to take part until 16 January 2015 - Awards and recognition for civic, voluntary commitment Citizens' association FUER CHEMNITZ, the Crime Prevention Council of the City of Chemnitz and the city's Commissioner for Foreigners provide information on the award programme
This is the 12th time that the Chemnitz Peace Prize has been awarded by the FUER CHEMNITZ citizens' association in cooperation with the City of Chemnitz Crime Prevention Council and the City of Chemnitz Commissioner for Foreigners. The Chemnitz Peace Prize sees itself as an active contribution against xenophobia, anti-Semitism and incitement to hatred. It is awarded to individuals, organisations, projects and initiatives that contribute to non-violent coexistence in Chemnitz, that prevent violence, that ensure a peaceful Chemnitz, that promote and support the coexistence of different cultures in Chemnitz.
The prize honours civic, voluntary commitment. It is important to the jury that this commitment is designed to be sustainable. Jury members and projects in which jury members are involved are not eligible to receive the prize.
The prize consists of a sculpture (photo) by Chemnitz sculptor Erik Neukirchner and prize money. Three prizes are awarded, and an honorary prize can also be awarded for decades of work for a peaceful Chemnitz.
Chemnitz residents, associations and initiatives will be invited to nominate suitable people and projects. Self-applications are also possible. Members of the jury will examine the proposals and also visit and present them to the jury.
Application instructions: In addition to the project description, the submitted documents can also include images, video recordings, photos, PC files, etc.

In 2014, the Chemnitz Peace Prize was awarded to the Interkultureller Garten e.V. and an honorary prize was awarded to the married couple Christina and Wolfgang Lehmann. In 2013, the film project RECHTSzuHause was honoured with the Peace Prize and Pedro Martin Montero Pérez with an honorary prize. In 2012, the winners were the AG In- und Ausländer and Stephan Brenner as an honorary prize winner. In 2011, the association Miteinander statt Gegeneinander was awarded the Peace Prize; an honorary prize was not awarded in 2011.
