Annen primary school does not move to Vettersstraße
School and sports committee reaches agreement on the location of several schools
At its meeting yesterday, 19 April, the School and Sports Committee, following intensive discussions, drew up location proposals for the Annenschulen, which are currently both housed in the school building on Brauhausstraße, and for the Chemnitz cooperation school. The administration is now working on an amendment to the previous resolution proposal, which is to be presented to the city council for approval on 10 May.
In contrast to the previous resolution proposal, Annen Secondary School is now to move to the new building on Vettersstrasse in the summer as a three-form entry secondary school under the name Marianne Brandt Secondary School. Annen primary school, on the other hand, is to be relocated to the new "Südlicher Sonnenberg" school building on Jakobstraße from the summer. The Annen primary school will share the rooms there with the new primary school growing up on the site, which will take in two first classes for the first time in the summer.
The school building on Brauhausstrasse is to be renovated from the summer and an extension will be added. The Chemnitz Cooperation School will then move in - probably in the summer of next year. This is currently being relocated to the building of the former primary school in Borna. The new school campus on Planitzwiese, which was previously planned for the school, turned out to be no longer financially viable due to construction price developments.

At the same time, the continued growth of the Chemnitz co-operation school should be guaranteed.
The search for a solution was preceded by several weeks of intensive consultations in various committees, during which several options were analysed.
Further analyses of the school infrastructure requirements are to be carried out when the school network plan is updated.
