Visit to his hometown - first album in his luggage - on 28 October, 8 pm in the concert hall of the Municipal Music School
Chemnitz-born singer Anja Schumann will be presenting her first album on 28 October 2017 at 8 pm in the concert hall of the Städtische Musikschule Chemnitz, Gerichtsstraße 1. "I'm particularly looking forward to it because we have a grand piano at our disposal. I was also a jazz singing teacher here for years and feel very connected to the place," says Schumann.
The singer, who now lives in Dresden, enchants audiences with her soft, jazz-tempered voice and her own songs. She interprets her German- and English-language pieces expressively - often melancholic, sometimes playful and ironic, then again clear and serious. They tell of relationships with people, our fast-moving times, thoughts about love, separation, death and the eternal motor of hope. The music of the four-piece band strikes sparks, drifts, rears up, only to descend spherically at another point and float on a wide plain, carried by Schumann's unmistakable voice. Her songs are small and large gems outside the pop mainstream, yet catchy and powerful.
The singer has already performed with various bands, including at the Sonne-Mond-Sterne-Festival, the f6 Music Award, as support for Beady Belle and at the Sound Of Dresden. She is also known from the trio VOC A BELLA, which performs every year together with the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra Greiz-Reichenbach in the "Classics under the Stars" series on the theatre square.
