Amendments to the waste regulations of the City of Chemnitz adopted

At its meeting today, the City Council approved changes to the waste and waste fee statutes of the City of Chemnitz from 1 January 2019.

After 10 years of unchanged waste fees, the bulk fees will increase from 2019.
The bulk fees for the black residual waste bin will be increased by 5.2 cents per kilo and for the organic waste bin by 1.4 cents per kilo. This is due to the increased recycling and treatment costs for residual waste and organic waste. These will continue to be charged unchanged via the bulk fee.

The ASR services will also remain constant for the next three years. This applies to the basic household fee and the regular emptying fee.

In fee comparisons, ASR Chemnitz occupies top positions with its low fees. For example, a mass refund for paper/cardboard/cardboard packaging (PPK) is unique in Germany.

ASR is also expanding its range of services again from 2019. In future, it will be possible to order organic waste bins (80 l, 120 l) with biofilter lids.

  • The fees for the service of equipping organic waste bins (80 l, 120 l) with biofilter lids to reduce odours amount to 23 euros per year and bin.

In connection with the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), explanations on the handling of personal data have been included in the waste and waste fee statutes.

Further changes to the waste statutes:

  • 60-litre green waste sack for the collection of excess quantities of green waste (such as hedge and shrub cuttings, grass cuttings, leaves, weeds) as a year-round offer for delivery to municipal recycling centres (bring system); the 120-litre sack is no longer available
  • Seasonal 60-litre leaf bag only for the collection of leaves in the autumn season as an additional time-limited offer (15 September to 30 November) for collection on the day the organic waste bin is emptied (collection system)
  • The use of waste containers with regard to the permitted usable mass and the consequences of any misuse detected are regulated more clearly.
  • Design requirements for waste container sites, transport routes and access roads are summarised in the revised Annex 2.
  • The acceptance of old car tyres will be removed from the waste statutes and regulated in future via the ASR catalogue of charges.

Further changes to the waste fee statutes:

  • The calculation of fees for contracted full-service services for PPK disposal is analogous to the other waste fractions.
  • For the collection of bulky waste on order from homes, the labour value is shown separately according to the vehicles used with driver and additional employees (loaders). This makes the calculation of charges even more transparent.
