Allotment garden association "Sachses Ruh" winner of the 2019 competition

The allotment garden association "Sachses Ruh" is the winner of this year's competition for the "Most Beautiful Chemnitz Allotment Garden Site 2019." The site near the city park came out on top by just three points ahead of the allotment garden association "Süd-Ost Chemnitz" e.V. (95 points) and the allotment garden association "Geibelhöhe" e.V. (92 points). This was the decision of the jury. The motto of this year's competition was "Allotment gardens - green living spaces in the city".

The competition was aimed at all allotment garden associations in the city who wanted to publicise their achievements and present them to a jury of experts. The winner will take part in the state competition in 2020 in order to qualify for participation in the national competition in 2021.

The competition is organised by the city, the Chemnitz city federation of allotment gardeners and the Chemnitz/Land federation of allotment gardeners. Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig is the patron of the competition.

The competition entries will be judged according to the following criteria:

  • Urban planning classification of the facility and its urban climate function (max. 20 points)
  • Environmental protection and nature conservation projects, ecological strategies and measures (max. 20 points)
  • Social projects and civic involvement of the organisation (max. 20 points)
  • Planning and design of the site (max. 20 points)
  • Design and utilisation of the individual gardens (max. 20 points)
  • Quality and creativity of the presentation of the association and the site during the inspection (max. 20 points).

A maximum of 120 points can be achieved.
