Alfred-Neubert-Straße day-care centre to be renovated
At its meeting yesterday, the city council passed the building resolution for the renovation of the daycare centre at Alfred-Neubert-Straße 55/57 in the Markersdorf district. The façade and the heating and electrical installations will be renovated and the group units will also be partially refurbished.
The two and three-storey building was constructed in 1983. The sanitary facilities and kitchen were refurbished between 2002 and 2004. The necessary fire protection measures, including the construction of a second structural escape route, were realised in 2005/2006. However, the building envelope (façade and windows) and the building services (heating and electrical systems) have remained unchanged since construction and are in a poor structural condition.
The costs of the building project totalled 1.59 million euros. Of this, the city is contributing just under 1.58 million euros. Some of the remaining funding has already been approved and the corresponding applications for outstanding funds are being submitted.
Construction is scheduled to begin in October this year. Completion of the work is planned for spring 2015.
