Agreement with Nova Gorica and Gorizia is confirmed
Trip to Slovenia serves as a concrete exchange for the Capital of Culture year 2025
Today, the Mayor of Culture of the City of Chemnitz, Dagmar Ruscheinsky, is travelling to Nova Gorica in Slovenia to sign an extended declaration of intent on the joint organisation of the European Capital of Culture 2025 with the newly elected Mayor of the city, Samo Turel, and the Mayor of the City of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna. This confirms the agreement reached in 2021 and specifies projects and plans for the European Capital of Culture year.
In the agreement, the cities commit to working together in the field of culture, creativity and the arts in 2025 and beyond, in the belief that international cooperation in this area will strengthen the bond of friendship and understanding between their citizens and promote the development of culture for the benefit of both cities.
Based on the agreement, it is planned to develop up to ten joint cultural projects as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025. Specifically, the collaboration between Makers United and Xcenter, the March of Friendship in Nova Gorica, the Gusti di Frontiera gourmet festival in Gorizia and the wine festival in Chemnitz are mentioned. The exchange of artists and art groups in "Artists in Residence" programmes, the promotion of exchanges between students, citizens, creators, employees and experts, as well as the support of youth and expert groups are also supported:The cities of Chemnitz, Nova Gorica and Gorizia are also committed to supporting youth and youth organisations with the aim of promoting the involvement and active participation of young people in all areas of cultural life.
