After-school children meet for a big football tournament in Rabenstein

Invitation to the big football tournament on Friday (11 July) in Chemnitz: From 2 p.m. to around 5:30 p.m., girls and boys from local after-school care facilities will meet on the artificial turf pitch of SG Handwerk Rabenstein on Harthweg in the Rabenstein district for the annual football tournament organised by the City of Chemnitz Office for Youth and Family. 120 children compete in ten teams in the tournament, play for victory and receive a certificate to commemorate the special football afternoon.

With a view to the World Cup in Brazil, the young athletes' enthusiasm for football and their anticipation of the tournament on Friday afternoon are naturally huge: Diligent football training has been at the top of the agenda for the after-school children over the past few months, with the rules of fair play also taking top priority. "Boys and girls have learnt to respect and respect opponents and referees and to develop team spirit, because football should be an enjoyable and exciting sport for everyone in a good and happy atmosphere," explains Sylke Pöschmann, educator at the Jugendweg 1a after-school club.

The young footballers will once again be supported in their tournament this year by the SG Handwerk Rabenstein football club: the club will not only provide the artificial turf pitch for the tournament free of charge, but will also support the preparation and organisation with two coaches and youth players. All the children's teams will be accompanied and cheered on by the cheerleading group from the Heinrich-Bretschneider-Straße 2 community day care centre in Reichenbrand with cool music and show interludes. And of course there will also be plenty of refreshments on offer. Enthusiastic football fans and representatives of the media are very welcome to the tournament!
