After-school care centre at Gablenz primary school to be run by of the association for children, youth and family support
By approving the draft resolution B-229/2012, the Chemnitz City Council approved the transfer of the after-school care centre at Gablenz Primary School, Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2, including the outpost at Carl-von-Ossietzky-Straße 171, to the recognised independent youth welfare organisation Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe e. V. at its meeting yesterday. The resolution implements a measure of the development and consolidation concept of the City of Chemnitz until 2015.
The after-school care facility with a total of 230 places including six integration places for both locations will be transferred to the association's sponsorship on 1 January 2013. The transfer is supported by the parents' council of the centre.
KJF e. V., the future provider of the after-school care centre, has been a recognised provider of independent youth welfare services since 1993 and is active in various youth welfare services. Among other things, the association runs ten day care centres, a special facility for children with speech and hearing impairments, an independent primary school, a youth club and a children's club and offers outpatient and inpatient educational support services.
The transfer to the Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe association will result in beneficial synergy effects for the range of services offered by the organisation, not least due to the shared use of the property at Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2: The KJF has been operating the children's and youth club "EL ZWO" with a "Kids Club" and creative centre in this property for many years, as well as offering social group work as educational support.
With the transfer of the after-school care centre to the recognised youth welfare organisation, 69 of Chemnitz's 138 day care centres are now run by the local authority and 69 by a total of 37 independent youth welfare organisations.
