Advice from the fire brigade at the turn of the year: Take care when handling fireworks
The fireworks on New Year's Eve will once again traditionally light up the sky over Chemnitz - but caution is (also) required. Here are some tips from the Chemnitz fire brigade to ensure that the turn of the year goes off without injuries or fires:
- When using fireworks or other pyrotechnic products, it is essential to follow the instructions for use!
- Do not aim fireworks at people or animals.
- Under no circumstances should fireworks intended for outdoor use be set off indoors.
- When setting off rockets, the direction of flight must be chosen so that they cannot fly against buildings or into building openings.
- Pay particular attention to "duds".
- Extinguish glowing remains and dispose of them safely.
- Table fireworks should be set off on a fireproof surface and not directly under paper garlands.
- Never make your own fireworks!
- Be careful with products from abroad, as they often do not comply with local regulations. (Only fireworks with a BAM licence may be purchased and used).
- In addition, there should be no flammable objects on balconies and terraces on New Year's Eve.
The fire brigade of the city of Chemnitz wishes you an accident-free New Year and a healthy and fire-free New Year.
