Advice and help with sight loss and hearing loss
Information provided by Blickpunkt Auge, dzb lesen and Hörmobil in Chemnitz City Library facilities
From Wednesday 10 November, Chemnitz City Library will once again be offering various services for people with sight loss and hearing loss.
Blickpunkt Auge - counselling and information offered by the German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired on all topics relating to vision.
In the course of life, many people's eyesight deteriorates. Sometimes this is accompanied by illnesses that lead to a loss of vision. Questions, uncertainties or fears often arise. In November, "Blickpunkt Auge" will be a guest at Chemnitz City Library facilities with information programmes and lectures.

dzb lesen - German Centre for Accessible Reading
The German Centre for Accessible Reading - "dzb lesen" for short - offers blind, visually impaired and reading-impaired people a diverse selection of literature to borrow and buy. The "dzb lesen" is not only a special library, but also a production centre for Braille books, audio books, magazines, reliefs, sheet music and, in future, large print and accessible e-books. The centre also provides a wide range of accessibility services.
In the joint initiative "Chance Inklusion", Chemnitz City Library and "dzb lesen" are working to provide visually impaired users with a suitable range of services. Those interested in literature are given uncomplicated access to barrier-free media.

The hearing mobile is coming!
Anyone seeking advice with questions about hearing and hearing loss can turn to the experts from the Landesverband der Schwerhörigen und Ertaubten Sachsen e.V. (Saxony Association for the Hard of Hearing and Deaf) in confidence and try out various hearing aids, such as light signalling systems and smoke detectors. A small hearing test is possible free of charge. Advice and information will also be provided on: participation in social life with forms of impairment; contact with advice services and self-help organisations, as well as authorities, health insurance companies, doctors and clinics, cost bearers and service providers; legal rights and social issues in accordance with the Federal Participation Act; assistive devices (e.g. hearing aids/technology).E.g. hearing aids/technology, but also applying for rehabilitation measures for people entitled to participation, using a written interpreter and aids; applying for a severely disabled person's pass
