Adult education centre programme for the first semester of 2016 online before Christmas
"Germany as a country of immigration" is the main topic
From 7 December 2015, 10:00 a.m., the new adult education centre course programme will be available to Chemnitz residents online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de. The educational institution is offering 755 courses, events and workshops in the 2016 summer semester. A quarter of the courses are completely new to the programme. The main theme of the programme is "Germany as a country of immigration".
As a country of immigration, Germany is facing new challenges, be it refugees who need accommodation, language courses and jobs or the organisation of harmonious coexistence. In the 2016 summer semester, the adult education centre is taking up the topic and offering Chemnitz residents a broad programme on immigration, flight, asylum and integration.
In courses and events from the Society department, the adult education centre provides detailed information about the countries of origin of refugees and the causes of flight. At lectures and panel discussions, Chemnitz residents are invited to engage in intensive and critical debate about asylum practice and policy.
In the 2016 summer semester, the adult education centre will host a symposium on the topic of labour market integration, at which strategies for the professional integration of asylum seekers and refugees will be developed and discussed.
In the integration courses, people from all over the world learn the German language and familiarise themselves with social conditions in Germany. In projects with schools and refugee children, the Adult Education Centre initiates an intercultural exchange.
The Adult Education Centre is the largest provider of integration and language courses in Chemnitz. It is a place for encounters, dialogue and social education and will play an outstanding role in the integration of migrants and refugees for the city of Chemnitz.
By publishing the programme online, the Adult Education Centre is responding to the great demand for new courses in the run-up to Christmas. Many customers already ask in December about courses for the following spring. Thanks to the online publication of the programme, these customers have the opportunity to book now for next year and give courses from the 2016 summer semester as a Christmas present. All courses and events can be booked as vouchers.
The programme will initially only be published online. A printed version will be published on 1 February 2016. The 2016 summer semester begins on 29 February 2016.
