The voice is the most important human tool and has a significant influence on how we are perceived by others. It is more decisive for the credibility of what is said than the content of the spoken word. Our voice reflects our state of mind, our mood, so to speak. Our mood has a decisive influence on our relationships with people in our everyday working life. Whether in direct contact or on the phone - we know that the tone makes the music. Knowing about the voice and the mood a person is in enables us to create positive relationships in our day-to-day work.
How do we manage to speak effectively so that our voice sounds clear and confident, so that the volume, melody and tempo are in tune with the content? The training addresses the voice as a central element in everyday working life. You will learn and experience in various ways how you can always strike the right note at work and be mindful of your voice.

The event sheds light on the role sport can play in social change. Practical experiences and personal attitudes from amateur sport are of interest. The Athletic Sonnenberg sports club from Chemnitz will be used as an example to take a closer look at the topic. Those involved in the club will talk about the background to its creation, how it sees itself and everyday life between the football pitch, neighbourhood politics and educational work. Afterwards, there will be space for discussion and dialogue.

Take a look behind the scenes and at how the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool works. Designed in the New Building style and opened in 1935, the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool was one of the largest and most modern indoor swimming pools in Europe. After several refurbishments to the building's technical infrastructure, the municipal swimming pool with its modern pool technology opens its doors for a tour of the pool's technical facilities.

The environmental balance of electric vehicles. Current research perspectives

Car traffic is responsible for more than half of transport-related greenhouse gas emissions in Germany. In order to reduce these in the future, some want to strengthen electric cars, while others are focusing on conventional petrol and diesel cars and alternative fuels (e.g. e-fuels). Alternative solutions for freight transport are also being sought. In order to make a well-founded comparison, it is worth taking a look at the entire life cycle of a vehicle - from its manufacture and use, including the provision of energy, to its disposal.
The event will present the latest research findings on the environmental footprint of electric cars. The speaker is researching and comparing the environmental impact of vehicles with alternative drive systems and fuels at the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research in Heidelberg. We invite you to learn about her research and engage in dialogue.

Chemnitz has a diverse basketball culture: this includes the Niners, the ChemCats, the wheelchair basketball team, streetball and many other initiatives. Basketball can open up spaces for social and cultural diversity. At the same time, the question arises as to where sport reaches its limits. What role do social structures play? And is the sports field really free of politics?
In conversation with Andre Zimpel, who with the "Chemnitz Basketball" project and the "I AM ..." series is deeply rooted in the Chemnitz basketball scene, these questions will be addressed.

The documentary film "Liebe Angst" by Kim Seligsohn and Sandra Prechtel tells the story of a tragedy. Kim Seligsohn's grandmother was murdered as a Jew in Auschwitz, her mother barely survived with her brothers. This has also left its mark on the Jewish-Christian singer as a member of the second generation. In the film, she attempts to approach these painful memories in a very personal way.
On this evening, we invite you to talk to Kim Seligsohn about her film and the background to its making.

"Freedom is priceless". How the three Baltic states view Russia and Germany

Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians are convinced Europeans. They have known Germany and Russia for 800 years. They have been free and independent again since 1991. The co-operation between Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius and Berlin is very close. With the accession to the European Union and NATO in 2004, the introduction of the euro and the free Schengen area, but also with the security policy partnership in current conflict situations, expectations of German policy continue to rise. Particularly in view of the war in Ukraine, the Baltic states are emphasising the defence of European freedom, democracy and security.
The event takes up the perspective of the Baltic states with a belligerent superpower Russia directly on their borders. How do these European neighbours view German foreign and security policy? Christoph Eichhorn, former ambassador to Estonia, will discuss his insights, experiences and perspectives.

"Stasi - Gorbi - Selenskyj" - Why it is worth exploring the "East". Lecture and discussion

The historian and journalist Dr Gerhard Gnauck, who grew up on the Rhine, came into contact with the former Eastern Bloc at an early age. Through his human rights work, he got to know civil rights activists and released GDR prisoners. He travelled behind the Iron Curtain to Poland, Russia and Ukraine. As a student in divided Berlin, he was spied on by the Stasi and KGB. After 1989, he wrote about the countries in transition as a correspondent for the "Welt" and the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung". He experienced people like Mikhail Gorbachev and Volodymyr Zelensky from up close and also visited Ukraine after 2022. He now lives near Warsaw and works remotely for the University of Munich (LMU). He is currently researching the Holodomor, the famine triggered by Stalin's policies in Ukraine in 1932/33.
At the event, Gerhard Gnauck will talk about his encounters with people and contemporary history. He asks whether historical knowledge and understanding of the neighbouring countries in the East can be drawn from his own experiences today.
