The term "nature" has various meanings, the connection between which is not obvious at first. It describes the phenomena of nature, trees and bushes, heaven and earth, but also the physical make-up of humans as something that - in comparison to history - remains the same or only changes very slowly. The term also refers to the nature of a thing, the essence of things. In the case of the band Deichkind, nature is that which is just as it is - without additions, accessories or judgement.
The series explores the concept of nature. Is this connection between the essence of a thing and a certain group of phenomena in a word a coincidence? Is it appropriate? And is it contemporary in the Anthropocene?

The Christian practice of meditation is the basis of the short impulses and spoken instructions. These are formulated and designed in such a way that they are suitable for people of the Christian religion and for all those interested in spirituality.

So-called "shock calls" are made to people on the phone, urging them to hand over very large sums of cash immediately under dubious circumstances. Criminals pretend to be public officials (police, courts, public prosecutors) and suggest that relatives are in great danger, for example because they are responsible for accidents.
In the so-called "grandchild or daughter scam", the perpetrators pretend to be close relatives and urge people to pay alleged bills for close relatives at short notice. The consumer advice centre provides information on how you can react to these and other scams, with speakers Mike Melzer and Jens Paßlack from the Saxony Consumer Advice Centre's consumer protection department.

In his book "Brauchen wir Ketzer? Voices against Power" (2023), the writer Marko Martin examines anti-totalitarian thinkers and intellectuals who had an extraordinary sense of the danger of dictatorships and the fragility of liberal societies. He reports on his research in his books and in this lecture.
Those portrayed include Hilde Spiel and Jeanne Herrsch, Primo Levi, Fritz Beer and Hermann Broch. They were all secular Jewish writers, lucid heretics instead of headstrong "lateral thinkers" who, often at great personal risk, described their times and still have a lot to say today. Marko Martins draws on dissident thought and formulates an invitation to broaden contemporary debates through reading.
Born in 1970 in Burgstädt, Saxony, Marko Martin left the GDR in May 1989 as a conscientious objector. The locations of his stories and literary diaries published since then include Havana, Tel Aviv, Johannesburg and Hong Kong. We invite you to come and talk to him.

Our everyday lives are filled with tasks and routine processes. There is often little room to "catch our breath". We are constantly thinking about tomorrow and what still needs to be done, or we are too preoccupied with the past. Constantly thinking about the future or the past is already an unconscious stress factor. The course aims to help you change your awareness of your own environment and learn to react differently to it. This requires contact with the body and the ability to be mindful and stay in the present. Then the mind comes to rest and relaxation becomes possible.

In addition to mindfulness exercises, the course also includes gymnastics and fascia training. You will also be sensitised to the topics of stress and resilience.

We have been aware of the alarming effects of environmental destruction and climate change for over half a century. International environmental and climate conferences are becoming more frequent, but why are we not taking consistent action against the devastating threats?
In his lecture, the well-known meteorologist, oceanographer and climate researcher Mojib Latif addresses the question of why our world continues to dangerously "saw off the branch it is sitting on" despite knowing better. He asks uncomfortable questions about the failure of politics and the interests of a few powerful corporations that are profiting from this fatal development. He shows ways in which the future of future generations can be saved through global co-operation.
Mojib Latif is a professor at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. He has been President of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg since January 2022.

The aim of this course is to find your own great form - the great gesture - and the line - descriptive and communicative - connecting. You start with sketches in the Stone Forest and playfully find your own visual language, initially on smaller square panels. The free artistic realisation of what they see leads to exciting forms that go beyond the picture frame. The focus and inspiration is the perception and observation, the deformation and alienation of everyday objects, as well as the composition in the interplay of different surfaces, materials and differentiated edge zones, which are created with different painterly and individual mixing techniques.
The cost of the following materials (25 euros) is included in the course fee: Bookbinding board 30 x 30 cm and 40 x 40 cm (8 pieces per participant), wax, encaustic equipment.

The correct pruning of fruit trees is a complex subject. The aim of the course is to give a rough overview of pruning fruit trees and to delve a little deeper into the care of young trees. When is the best time to prune? How much pruning is good for the tree? Stone fruit and pome fruit - what is the difference?
The course includes a theoretical and a practical part. The latter focusses in particular on training pruning for young trees. On a meadow in Schlosschemnitz, you will have the opportunity to carry out practical pruning of young trees under the guidance of a certified tree warden.

Sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle - anti-Semitism has a long history. The political theorist Hannah Arendt, who provocatively placed the title above one of her essays, knew this. Yet the origins of anti-Semitic stereotypes go back over 2,000 years in some cases. They can still be seen today in anti-Semitic thought patterns and slogans.
The workshop deals with a variety of anti-Semitic stereotypes and emphasises the topicality of the subject. What forms does anti-Semitism take? What historical continuities continue to have an impact today? And last but not least: How can anti-Semitism be opposed and countered in a planned manner in both professional and private contexts?

Extensive research is being carried out into the use of hydrogen and fuel cells for the mobility of the future or for the energy transition. In the Chemnitz region, various research and practical institutions have joined forces to form a hydrogen centre and an innovation network. The presentation explains their work and current technological research on hydrogen and fuel cells. Michelle Vinke, Head of Knowledge and Technology Transfer at HZwo e.V., will present the entire hydrogen value chain and its significance for the Chemnitz region. She will provide insights into the activities of HZwo e.V. and the role of the Hydrogen Innovation Centre (HIC), which is regarded as a key project for technological innovation in the region and will be built on the Reichenhainer Straße campus.
The exhibits include a fuel cell system construction kit, a fuel cell explosion model, open source stack and a Toyota Mirai.
