My voice - my language - my success factor: The voice at work
Location: Chemnitz Adult Education Centre at TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20, course room 4.62
Participation: 120.90 euros, registration link: www.vhs-chemnitz.de/kurs/W2452009
The voice is the most important human tool and has a significant influence on how we are perceived by others. It is more decisive for the credibility of what is said than the content of the spoken word. Our voice reflects our state of mind, our mood, so to speak. Our mood has a decisive influence on our relationships with people in our everyday working life. Whether in direct contact or on the phone, we know that the tone makes the music. Knowing about the voice and the mood a person is in enables us to create positive relationships in our day-to-day work.
How do we manage to speak effectively so that our voice sounds clear and confident, so that the volume, melody and tempo are in tune with the content? The training programme focuses on the voice as a central element in everyday working life. In various ways, you will learn and experience how you can always strike the right note at work and be mindful of your voice.
Monday, 2 December, 7 to 8.30 p.m.

The economic map of Germany and Saxony is changing. This also has an impact on public budgets and financial planning. Dwindling public finances coupled with a wide range of upheavals in the economy and industry and the challenges of climate change are being discussed - currently centred around a debt brake in the constitution, among other things. Prof Dr Joachim Ragnitz will explain in a lecture how these changes can be classified and the challenges facing Saxony's politics, economy and society.
The speaker is deputy head of the Dresden branch of the ifo Institute and honorary professor of economics, in particular finance, at the Technical University of Dresden. He has been researching economic policy developments for many years and contributes to current debates.
This event is co-financed by tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.

Why do we feel ashamed and where do feelings of guilt come from? Shame and feelings of guilt are difficult to get rid of, especially if they have been brought up for years. They can rob people of the joy of life. How do you get rid of them anyway? How can you forgive yourself?
These questions will be the subject of the course, and there will also be time for personal experiences and dialogue.

Participation: free of charge, registration link: www.vhs-chemnitz.de/kurs/W2433203
Our industrialised economy is highly dependent on raw materials, but these are finite and becoming more expensive. Waste products can be returned to the economic cycle through recycling. But which materials can actually be recycled and what do
consumers need to take into account when separating waste in order for this to succeed? How can certain materials be recovered and where is the waste taken? These and other questions are answered by ASR Chemnitz's waste counselling service. As the city's own company, the ASR is responsible for the daily waste disposal of around 130,000 households.
This event is a co-operation between ASR Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget adopted by the Saxon State Parliament.

A varied landscape characterises the area north-east of Dresden, also known as the "Pillnitz Elbe plateau". The picturesque village of Schönfeld, nestled in the loess hills, gives the area its name and its Renaissance palace, known as "Germany's magic castle", promises a special kind of magic. Graupa Castle is of a different calibre: as part of the "Richard Wagner Sites", it commemorates the birth of "Lohengrin". On that day, the castle serves as the backdrop for a special Christmas market, with small Advent concerts performed in the festively decorated halls. The day is rounded off with a visit to the baroque village church of Dürröhrsdorf.
Lunch in the picturesque mountain restaurant "Schöne Höhe" near Dittersbach as well as entrance and tour fees of approx. 15 euros are not included in the course fee.

"Stasi prison and Baltic Sea escape" - talk and music with Dietrich Kessler and Eberhard Klunker
Location: Kaßberg Prison Learning and Memorial Centre, Kaßbergstraße 16c
Participation: free of charge, registration link: www.vhs-chemnitz.de/kurs/W2412410
Both were young, professional musicians and in conflict with the regime. At some point, Dietrich Kessler, band leader of the Klosterbrüder, and the musician and composer Eberhard Klunker, who didn't know each other at the time, just wanted to get out of the GDR. Klunker left in September 1975 with a friend in a rubber dinghy - at night in the dark for hours on the Baltic Sea. Kessler and his bandmates applied to leave the country together in 1981. The consequences were a professional ban and imprisonment by the MfS. After 20 months in prison, Dietrich Kessler was finally ransomed by the federal government from Cottbus via Kaßberg to the West.
On this evening, Dietrich Kessler and Eberhard Klunker reminisce together about that time. They talk about what drove them to evade state orders and constraints and explain why they turned their backs on the GDR despite the loss of a large fan base and many friends. In between, the two will play guitar and saxophone.
Hartmut Rüffert, once part of the GDR opposition himself and well versed in GDR rock music, will moderate the event.
The event will take up the series "Youth Opposition and Deviance" from the first half of the year. At the same time, the role of so-called Republikflüchtlinge (refugees from the republic) and those who applied to leave the country during the collapse of the SED regime will be examined.
The event is a co-operation between the Lern- und Gedenkort Kaßberg-Gefängnis e. V., the Institute of Political Science at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre. It is supported by the Saxon Memorials Foundation and the Saxon State Commissioner for the Reappraisal of the SED Dictatorship and co-financed with tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
Thursday, 12 December, 7.30 to 9 p.m.
The whole world in detail: works by Jan Brueghel the Elder in the Alte Pinakothek
Location: online

Registration is possible until 12 December, 12 noon. You will receive the access data by e-mail at least three hours before the start of the event.
Vast landscapes, opulent floral arrangements, animals, people, town and country - there is hardly a theme that Jan Brueghel did not take up. Just a few, sometimes microscopically small brushstrokes are enough for him to capture and record the motif: Be it a farmer who has to pull his stubborn horse out of the stable with all his strength, be it a freezing dog staring
staring hungrily at a few fish that have just been put on the fire. Brueghel brought the action to life with such small scenes.
The Bavarian State Painting Collections have the most comprehensive collection of works by Jan Brueghel the Elder in the world. The guided tour will present some selected works in the Alte Pinakothek. The event will be streamed live from the Alte Pinakothek in Munich.
