Additional rooms for the day centre of the Wohnungsnotfallhilfe
From Monday, 1 February, the City Mission of Chemnitz's emergency housing assistance service will be expanding its day centre at short notice and temporarily moving into the premises of a former café at Reitbahnstraße 19. The service is initially planned to run until the end of February.
Due to hygiene and social distancing rules, only eight people have been able to stay in the day centre of the housing emergency aid service at any one time since spring 2020. Normally, there are 30 to 35 women and men at the same time. This is a major problem, especially in the current weather. Those responsible at the Chemnitz City Mission and representatives of the social welfare office were able to find a suitable solution quickly and easily. Thanks to the excellent cooperation between the social welfare office and the GGG, the keys to the temporary premises were handed over today.
This will enable as many people as possible to stay in the warm and also reduce the number of people waiting outside the day centre.
The opening hours are between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and can be flexibly adapted depending on the weather and demand. A toilet is available in the new premises. Tea and coffee will be available, and the food served at the day centre can also be eaten there. All other day centre services such as showers, lockers and postal addresses will remain at Annenstraße 22.
