Additional revenue for the city of Chemnitz
Administration launches proposals for additional investments and planning
The city of Chemnitz has received compensation payments from the Free State to compensate for lower revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic. This involves additional revenue totalling 6.5 million euros.
These additional funds are to be channelled into current and other important investment projects. A preliminary agreement has been reached with the city councillors. The City Council will make the final decision at its meeting on 12 October.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "The additional funds will enable us to realise projects even in difficult economic times. We can also use these funds to absorb increases in construction costs in certain projects and thus complete them more quickly. I would like to thank the parliamentary groups for their good joint preliminary coordination."
The following projects or construction measures will be presented to the city council for a decision in October:
- C-facility and artificial turf in the junior stadium
- Extension to Mittelbach primary school
- Road maintenance / coordinated measures
- Adelsberg primary school
- Eissport und Freizeit GmbH Chemnitz
- Erfenschlag sports and leisure centre
- Long-distance bus terminal
- Kaßberg prison learning and memorial centre with permanent exhibition
- Planning costs for basketball courts at Konkordiapark
- Additional social & sports requirements (youth welfare, sports centre management, etc.)
