Additional member wanted for LAP monitoring committee

Application for participation in democracy promotion possible until 26 November

Until Sunday, 26 November, organisations, institutions or initiatives from civil society that are committed to democratic, tolerant, equal, inclusive and diverse coexistence in the city of Chemnitz can apply for a free seat on the LAP monitoring committee.

The monitoring committee actively participates in the implementation of the municipal action strategy for the promotion of democracy and the funding principles of the federal programme "Live Democracy!". It consists of 17 members. In accordance with the guidelines of the City of Chemnitz for the funding of projects as part of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP), the 17 representatives reflect the cooperative collaboration between civil society and administration.

A prerequisite for the application is the willingness to participate in several meetings per year and to monitor individual projects. It would be desirable for the initiatives to have a broad impact on urban society and preferably be based in Chemnitz. They work for the common good and without the intention of making a profit. Participation in the monitoring committee is limited to six years.

At the end of October, the majority of the monitoring committee had already decided in favour of two local actors from civil society to join the committee from 1 January 2024: "Courage - Werkstatt für demokratische Bildungsarbeit e.V." and "Wiederbelebung kulturellen Brachlandes e. V.". Another member is now being sought.
