Addiction Coordinator of the City of Chemnitz appointed
Katrin Ehnert has been the new addiction coordinator at the City of Chemnitz Health Department since 1 November 2017 and is now available to answer questions and receive suggestions.
In February 2017, the city council unanimously decided to create the position of "Addiction Counselling and Prevention Coordinator".
The aim of the new position is to create a cross-sectional function that enables networks to be established and expanded and to further develop the already excellent work of addiction counselling and prevention in Chemnitz. The exchange of information on addiction-related topics in various working groups, as well as the organisation of further training and specialist conferences, will be an essential part of the job.
Another important aspect of the office, which is based in the public health department, is public relations work and the development of addiction and drug policy guidelines to shape local drug and addiction policy.
The planned range of tasks is rounded off by supporting municipal departments, independent organisations and service providers in structural and strategic issues relating to addiction help and prevention.
