"Active in old age" - action days on the topic of ageing

Mayor opens campaign week - advice and information from 6 to 8 May at the Vita-Center

The cooperation project "Active in old age", prepared by the city's social services department together with the host VITA-CENTER Chemnitz and the Pro Seniore Residenz and organised from 6 to 8 May 2013, is taking place in its fourth edition this year. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will open the action days on Monday, 6 May 2013 at 11 a.m. in the VITA-CENTER. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend and accompany the theme of the campaign week.

Living in old age, intergenerational projects, help in everyday life, information about care - these topics and many more await visitors during the campaign week. Regional and national associations, organisations and service providers will present themselves with a wide range of comprehensive and inspiring advice services. In addition to information and exhibition stands, a varied stage programme will entertain and inform visitors: For example, a cookery show will encourage and demonstrate that "healthy cooking" is also fun - and tastes good. The daily demonstration of an age simulation suit will also illustrate possible limitations in old age. Also on all three days of the event, presentations on various topics such as "First aid in the private sector", "Living in old age", "Tips from the care authority" and "Nutrition in old age" will be held in a separate room at 11 am and 3 pm. For those interested in literature, there will be a book reading with CVAG press spokesman Stefan Tschök on the opening day at 4 pm.

The City of Chemnitz's Social Welfare Office (Department of Senior Citizens' Assistance and Care Authority) and the Health Department are involved in organising the content of the Action Days and will also be on site.
