Actions for the European Mobility Week
Decelerated travelling - explore Chemnitz on foot, by bike or on foot
The European Mobility Week 2023 will take place from 16 to 22 September under the motto "Save energy". Numerous free activities will also be offered by many stakeholders in Chemnitz.
On Saturday, 16 September at 10 a.m., Mobility Week will kick off with a two-hour city tour along Zwickauer Straße, accompanied by Mayor Michael Stötzer and tour guide Veronika Leonhardt. Anyone interested is invited to explore different forms of mobility on foot. The meeting point is Falkeplatz.
The kick-off day ends with a night tram ride with music. The start is 6.30 pm at Chemnitz main station. Tram clubs in Chemnitz and the Czech Republic will be travelling at the same time and dancing together to DJ music.
On 20 September at 6.30 pm, interested parties are invited to a discussion on more sustainable mobility with various topics on transport development in the open space behind the Karl Marx Monument. Eight representatives from different sectors will discuss the participants' questions and comments.
On Thursday, 21 September at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., the motto is "Barrier-free? Yes, for sure!". Interested parties are invited to take part in the bus boarding training organised by CVAG and the Sozialverband VdK Sachsen e. V., in the morning at the Terra Nova Campus and in the afternoon at the SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH.
On Friday, 22 September, children are invited onto the bicycle bus to find out how the bicycle can replace the "parents' taxi" for the journey to school. Accompanied by the police, the children will cycle to school together.
Also on 22 September at 6 p.m., Dr René Stahlschmidt will answer questions from interested parties in a lecture entitled "Mobile tomorrow too - Synthetic fuels. Process. Costs. Advantages" to answer questions on the topic of e-fuels. The lecture will take place at the Museum for Saxon Vehicles, Zwickauer Straße 77.
The European Mobility Week mascots Edgar and Edda will always be there. The programme flyer also serves as a booklet in which you can collect stickers.
