This year's motto "Dementia - Together. Courageous. Life." emphasises that the daily challenges of living with people with dementia can only be overcome together as a family, group of friends, team or society. Life regularly brings special challenges and changes.
The action and information day is intended to show how many positive moments can be had together with relatives, friends etc. who have dementia, if we manage not to lose sight of the beautiful moments despite all the stress.
The programme includes a lecture by author and coach Daniel De Paola on the topic of "Family in a state of emergency and paths to a new normality" from 8.45 am. At 10 a.m., experts will present tips and advice on dealing with dementia in everyday life in a panel discussion and answer questions from the audience. The theatre performance "You are my mother" with Achim Conrad will also begin at 1 pm.
The 11th day of action on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day also recognises all those who are or have to dedicate themselves to the topic because they themselves are affected by the disease. The diagnosis of dementia does not only affect those with the disease. Their families and friends are also involved in coping with this illness. They accompany, care for, look after, listen, comfort and give strength. It is important for people with dementia and their relatives to stay connected so that they can participate in life.
DemenzNetz_C(hemnitz) brings together stakeholders from public, independent and private organisations and services to represent the interests of dementia sufferers and their relatives in Chemnitz. Further information can be found at www.chemnitz.de/wat
