Accident on drinking water pipe on Leipziger Straße
Please note road users: The carriageway is restricted to one lane inbound and one lane outbound!
There are currently traffic obstructions on Leipziger Straße near Friedrich-Schlöffel-Straße. The reason for this is an accident on a drinking water pipe: the damaged pipe is lying crosswise under Leipziger Straße, so that it has to be broken open in the Friedrich-Schlöffel-Straße area.
Utility company eins and its construction company are expected to carry out the repairs until Friday morning. Meanwhile, due to the work in the construction site area, the lane towards the city centre will have to be restricted by a further lane, meaning that only one lane will be available both towards and away from the city centre.
The traffic authority of the city of Chemnitz is switching off the traffic lights on Friedrich-Schlöffel-Straße and setting up a switchable pedestrian emergency traffic light to speed up the traffic flow.
Residents of Friedrich-Schlöffel-Straße will not be able to use Leipziger Straße during the construction phase - please use the diversions via Max-Plank-Straße.
Information about the incident itself can be obtained from the utility company eins - you can reach Christian Stelzmann, contact person in the Corporate Communications department, on the mobile phone number 0152/01560062.
