A welcome for the little ones

Parents' guide "Welcome home! ... The first steps"

Elternratgeber „Willkommen zu Hause! … Die ersten Schritte“

This year, new parents will receive a guidebook entitled "Welcome home!" with lots of tips and information from Chemnitz about the first year of their child's life. It is published by the City of Chemnitz, which developed the booklet together with city councillors, independent youth welfare organisations and welfare services.

Questions about birth certificates, parental allowance and registering for a place in a daycare centre are covered, as are courses and services for babies, vaccinations, nappy-changing facilities in the city and meeting points and contacts for young parents. Mayor Barbara Ludwig also offers her congratulations to the parents: "This parents' guide "Welcome home!" aims to make the start to family life as easy as possible. It shows who to contact and how parents can organise everything important for themselves and their child. You will find topics ranging from the birth certificate and parental allowance to family and leisure activities. Lots of tips to make Chemnitz a good place to grow up."

The parents' guide will be handed out from January when the parental allowance is applied for. It can also be sent by post.
