On Monday, 24 November at 7 pm, interested parties are invited to the 7th Dream Concert in the Chemnitz City Hall. You can experience a unique evening of music by young artists with and without disabilities from Chemnitz and the surrounding area, who will perform on stage together with musicians from the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tickets are available from the Tourist Information ticket service and online. Representatives of the media are also invited.
The event is organised by the City of Chemnitz's Inclusion Officer, Petra Liebetrau, and the Bürgerstiftung für Chemnitz. The Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the C3 event centres, the Chemnitz Municipal Theatres and the schools and services for people with disabilities are also involved. Since December 2018, the music evening has also been awarded the Saxon Inclusion Prize.
There are joint pieces of music arranged for all music groups as well as solo performances by the participating ensembles. Solo performances are supported by the Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Dream Concert takes place every two years and is constantly growing: in the performances of the young artists, the number of participating Philharmonic musicians and enthusiastic audience members and also the accessibility of the concert. Since the first concert in 2011, flyers and programme booklets have also been available in Braille and the music and presentation of the evening have been translated into German sign language. Short video clips are also played to ensure better understanding and the necessary accessibility.
Since 2017, the events on stage have also been described for blind spectators with live audio description. Anyone wishing to use this should register by email at inklusionsbeauftragte(at)stadt-chemnitz.de by 20 November. The necessary headphones will then be handed out on site (against a deposit).
This year, for the first time, the Dream Concert is being organised under the patronage of the event. The patron is Annett Hofmann, wife of the Saxon Minister President. Michael Kretschmer himself is one of the guests of honour for the first time and will be present alongside the Mayor of Chemnitz, Sven Schulze, and Stefan Schmidtke, Managing Director of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, among others.
Guests from the Israeli twin city Kirjat Bialik are also expected to attend the 7th Dream Concert. The nine-strong delegation from Israel will be visiting Chemnitz from 21 to 25 November at the invitation of the "Days of Jewish Culture" association to find out what is being done in Chemnitz for people with physical disabilities. In addition to the dream concert, the Israeli guests, four of whom dance in wheelchairs themselves, will also visit the Terra Nova Campus and the performance "Chemnitz moves" - a youth project organised by the Don Bosco association for young people with disabilities. There will also be an exchange with this group.
