A place of opportunities for all Chemnitz residents
Press invitation: Opening of BibLab-C on 8 June, 5 p.m., Central Library, TIETZ
On Tuesday 8 June at 5 p.m., Mayor Ralph Burghart will open the new Bib(liotheks)Lab(or)-C(hemnitz) project area, which was created in the Central Library during the corona-related closure. The head of cultural operations, Ferenc Csák, and representatives of the project network will also be present. The Federal Cultural Foundation will participate in the opening with a video greeting.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend. As this is an event on the premises of the TIETZ City Library, a daily negative rapid test is required.
BibLab-C - Perceive - Do - Share
In three areas - Perceive - Do - Share - library visitors are offered space for quiet media enjoyment, experimentation and civic participation. A new studio awaits courageous podcasters, a gaming arena is waiting to be used and an open space is available for a wide range of ideas. The opening marks the start of a varied programme of events, which unfortunately can only be offered online for the first few weeks.

Library of the future
Public libraries in the 21st century are more than just places to read and borrow books. They have long since become central community cultural centres where people from all backgrounds and interests can meet, where important media skills are taught and social debates are held. With the BibLab-C pilot project, Chemnitz City Library wants to take account of the changing needs of its users and gather experience that will be incorporated into future library development.
