On Thursday 20 August at 1.00 pm, Mayor Knut Kunze and the Head of the Fire Service, René Kraus, are inviting members of the media to a press briefing in the conference room at Fire Station 1, Schadestraße 11.
The occasion marks a double anniversary: 160 years of the Chemnitz Professional Fire Service and 120 years of Fire Station 1. The anniversaries will be celebrated with an open day on Saturday, 5 September, at Fire Station 1.
Mayor Knut Kunze and Head of the Fire Service René Kraus will give an overview of the history of the fire service in the city of Chemnitz and draw a parallel with the fire service’s work today, the effectiveness of which is essential for fire safety, as is the contribution of its volunteer members.
They will also provide a preview of the celebrations for the open day on 5 September. Afterwards, they will be available to answer questions from members of the media.
