A cycle tour to the flowering meadows
Adult education centre: Exploration by bike on 15 June, from 5 p.m.
On Wednesday 15 June, 5 to 7 p.m., the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you on a bicycle tour to selected meadow areas. Melanie Hartwig from the Chemnitz Environmental Centre and Florian Etterer from the civic initiative "Chemnitz grünt" will report on the current status of the flowering meadows project.
Participation is free of charge. The meeting point is at the Bunte Gärten seed garden on the corner of Augustusburger Straße and Tschaikowski Straße. Registration is possible by telephone on 0371 488 4343 or online at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
According to a citizen survey, many people in Chemnitz would like to see more green spaces and commitment to environmental protection in their city. The flowering meadows sown in various neighbourhoods in 2021 combine both. Together with various partners - including the Chemnitz Environmental Centre, which is providing technical support for the project - more than 20,000 square metres of new insect habitat have been created.
During the cycle tour, participants will learn about the ecological significance of the colourful eye-catchers for the city and can discuss how to look after their own flowering meadows.
This event is a cooperation between the Chemnitz Environmental Centre and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre as part of the "Chemnitz blossoms" nature city project.
