Various exhibitions and events in Chemnitz commemorate German reunification 25 years ago. From Friday, 2 October 2015, a new exhibition at Chemnitz Neumarkt will make the changes of the past years visible.
The exhibition "A city in transition. How Karl-Marx-Stadt became Chemnitz" will be on display at Chemnitz Neumarkt until 18 October.

To mark the 25th anniversary of German reunification, the city of Chemnitz is receiving visitors from its twin city of Düsseldorf, including the Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel. The delegation of 35 people from the worlds of politics, science, art and sport will take part in the joint celebratory event on 2 October in the Museum of Industry.

On Saturday, 3 October 2015, a ballet evening invites you to the opera house at 7.30 pm. "Hutgeschichten - Alles auf Anfang" is a tribute to Udo Lindenberg, who since his breakthrough in the 1970s has moved between trenchant social criticism and the absolutely human with a language that draws its poetry from directness and great emotion. Ballett Chemnitz will immerse itself in old and new narratives that emerge in Reiner Feistel's dance interpretation of Lindenberg's songs.

At the same time, the Chemnitz Theatre invites you to the premiere of "Der Menschenfeind" - (Le Misanthrope), a comedy by Molière that shows how lies and truth stand in each other's way.

On Sunday, 4 October 2015, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chemnitz invites you to a harvest memorial service in St. Mark's Church at 9:30 am. The service will be organised by the former superintendent of Karl-Marx-Stadt, Christoph Magirius, among others
Over the next few weeks, the Environmental Centre and the City Library will be taking part.
From 7 October to 6 November 2015, the exhibition "Church Environmental Groups in Karl-Marx-Stadt" by the Chemnitz Environmental Centre will once again be on display at Henriettenstr. 5.
From 13 November to 13 December 2015, it will be on display in the Protestant parish of
St Pauli-Kreuz, Henriettenstr. 36. The opening will take place after the church service on 15 November 2015.
On 12 October 2015, the Saxon State Centre for Political Education, in cooperation with the city library, invites you to a reading in the event hall of the central library at 7 pm. Ines Geipel will talk about the "Generation Wall". Born in East Germany in the 1960s, the "children of the Wall" were young enough to conquer the world from 1989 - a happy generation? Ines Geipel seeks to trace the biography of her generation in a dialogue between personal fate and current research.
