On Tuesday, 17 December, after a long wait, the new mobile library will be delivered and transferred to Chemnitz. The location, the charging station and the depot for the library's replacement stock will be at the Vita Centre.
After successful delivery, the library technology will be installed and tested. The media, books, games and gaming corner will then be installed.
Test drives and safety training for the library staff are planned for the new year. In February 2025, the public stops will be approached and after the winter holidays, the mobile library will start its regular tour schedule at 20 Chemnitz schools.
The official opening of the travelling library is planned for March. The exact date is yet to be announced. The people of Chemnitz will then also be able to find out about the new vehicle and the city library's new service at an open day for the mobile library.
