9th Chemnitz Orchid Show
Blooming jewels from 1 to 9 March in the Botanic Garden - media representatives can already attend the exhibition set-up from Wednesday (26 February)
From Saturday 1 March, visitors are invited to view the blooming jewels of the 9th Chemnitz Orchid Show in the Botanical Garden at Leipziger Straße 147: Members of the Chemnitz Botanical Garden / Nature Conservation Centre and employees of the Botanical Garden are preparing the show, which will cover around 850 square metres. This time, the organisers are including all of the Botanic Garden's show greenhouses in the exhibition and can now present around 5,000 to 6,000 plants from the orchid and pineapple families in an exhibition area that is twice as large as in previous years. While thousands of tropical orchid flowers can be admired in the warm tropical house, a special "cold house orchids and bromeliads" show will take place in the cold house area.
A total of 27 exhibitors are taking part in the orchid show, including the local organisers, the botanical gardens of Dresden, Halle and Leipzig, several nurseries and the Chemnitz Orchid Friends Association as well as private individuals.
The greenhouses will be closed from today to prepare for and set up the orchid show. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to report on the construction of the exhibition from Wednesday (26 February).
The 9th Chemnitz Orchid Show will be open daily from 1 to 9 March from 10 am to 6 pm. Guided tours can be arranged outside the regular opening hours. On all days of the exhibition, experts will be on hand to provide advice on the jewels of the plant kingdom. Plants and materials can be purchased in the propagation greenhouse.
Admission: Adults pay 6 euros per person, concessions 4 euros (e.g. pupils, students, students, severely disabled persons, Chemnitz Pass holders, unemployed persons), children of pre-school age have free admission. The family ticket costs 15 euros (two adults and all accompanying children).
